Welcome Upstate South Carolina’s New Gospel Station, 96.9 Rejoice.

It is finally here! A new and distinguished FM gospel station.

Many have tried and failed to produce a radio station for the Greenville-Spartanburg area. The money to not only open but maintain a gospel station here has been short lasting in spite of the growing demand for gospel and the exponential increase of talent in industry quality music. Now, thanks to Val Carolin and Stanley Toole of Salem Media Group, we’re up and going.

What a great way to tip off this great arrival than the new *HOT single release ,”Even Me,” by Darlene McCoy who is not only a native of Greenville, South Carolina, but also an already successful host with the Stellar Award winning gospel station Praise 102.5 (of Atlanta). Darlene hosts The Nightly Spirit, which airs every night at 7 pm which will now air in Greenville, S.C. at the same time.

Darlene McCoy, who is a signed artist with EMI and whose music first debuted on Tyler Perry’s Diary of A Mad Black Woman soundtrack, came celebrating with both friends and family. There was a living airing of the show last Friday at the Kroc Center in downtownd, Greenville.

Griff, the co host of Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell performed a comedy set. Executive producer, Dwight Stone, not only kept the show organized and moving like a “well oiled machine” but hyped up the crowd even more during a break, with a Christian reggae dance. Willie Moore Jr. stopped by to celebrate as well with a talent to “spit” that many in this area were unaware of. It was just an incredible and fun night and a room full of potent, positive energy.

DJ and Pastor Curtis Johnson, a.k.a “Skinny Man,” you know the one who always insists that we “meet him at The Brook, of the gospel segment on 107.3 and also Darlene’s twin brother, was also in the audience along with wife, children, their mom, dad, cousins, aunts, uncles, and classmates all of which Darlene esteems greatly as they do her.

Congratulations also to area pastor, Lenny Gaines, a.k.a. Pastor Lenny who will be the new host of Midday Praise with Pastor Lenny. Pastor Lenny was a former radio dj of and a current pastor and founder of PowerHouse Christian Church in Pendeleton, SC.

If you are wondering when the first day is, allow me to inform you that you missed it. The firstĀ  airing was Tuesday of this week, January 9th, but thankfully you can catch up. As always, let’s support what we want to keep.

Happy airing 96.9 Rejoice! I celebrate you! Stay tuned for upcoming video clips.
