So for nineteen years, this has been going on and it is getting quite “swole” (sorry ,In my Snoop Dogg mode right now). “Swole” as in it’s growing since over 2,000,000 people are now attending this event every year.
Super Bowl Gospel Celebration will air Saturday Night (Feb 3rd) at 11 pm EST on BET (and again at 11am and 11pm on Sunday).
Nevertheless, its all in the air about how fantastic this year’s Superbowl Gospel Celebration has been taped live on Thursday, Feb 1st at Bethel University in Minnesota.
The Superbowl Gospel Celebration is “the first and only inspirational event sanctioned by the NFL for Super Bowl weekend.” NFL players and gospel artists are united during this occasion for the purpose of sharing messages, music, and honoring NFL players for being icons of the Christian faith.
Some of the performers last night include, Tamela Mann, Tina and Erica Campbell of grammy award winning gospel duo, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, the Clark Sisters, Faith Evans, Sheila E, Sounds of Blackness, and of course Snoop Dogg. And in the words of Huggy Lowdown “who knew?” there was an NFL Players Choir?
The event was co hosted by John Gray, former associate pastor of LakeWood Church (under Joel Olsteen) now senior pastor of the new Relentless Church in Greenville, S.C. Also do hosting is Nigerian actress, comedian, and writer Yvonne Orji of hit sitcom, Insecure.
